Vermicompost

As Mysuru Zoo is a house to more than 1400 animals and receives about ten thousand visitors on daily basis, tons of waste (organic - animal fecal matter, leftover fodder, restaurant waste and plastic etc.) is quite expected. Safe disposal of this waste is very essential to ensure cleanliness and a safe environment for all. Mysuru zoo converts the organic waste into biogas and vermicompost and sends plastic waste for recycling. Biogas is used for preparing zoo animal's food and the surplus (excess to zoo gardens requirement) vermicompost is sold to local farmers and gardeners at Rs.15 per kg. Last year zoo produced about 150 tonnes of Vermicompost. Those who are interested in buying Vermicompost please contact Mob-9886507891 or 0821-2440752.
